Forever Foster/Hospice Hounds
The below hounds are the hounds that come to HHBR and due to their age, medical needs, emotional needs, behavioral needs, etc are NOT available for adoption. Foster homes welcome them long term until it’s time to help them cross the bridge.
These hounds are in desperate need for Monthly Angels as it still takes HHBR funds to offer them the medications, Heartworm and flea preventatives and specialized diets each month. To become a senior hounds Angel, please click here.

Hounds Haven Basset Rescue of Iowa, Inc. is a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization by the IRS. All contributions & adoptions fees are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
Hounds Haven is a very small all volunteer based rescue and we can only take Basset’s to rehome as our time and budget allows–we will not go into a rescue without the proper resources to care for that hound.
If we do not currently have any hounds that would meet the requirement of your home environment we will contact you to discuss the options BUT we can also highly suggest the Basset and Basset Mix rescues.
